What is Choline and Why Do Babies Need It?

How Choline benefits Babies?

Choline works on multiple levels to ensure healthy growth and development. Here are some of its most critical roles:

Brain and Nervous System Development

Choline is a key ingredient in making acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for memory, learning, and muscle control. This makes it essential for building strong cognitive foundations in babies and supporting healthy development of the nervous system.

Liver Function

Choline helps the liver process and transport fats. Without it, fats can build up in the liver, leading to complications like fatty liver disease. For babies, this means choline helps maintain a smoothly functioning metabolism.

Cell Structure

  • Pregnant women: 450 mg/day
  • Breastfeeding women: 550 mg/day
