What to pack in your hospital bag?

Is your due date getting nearer? Is it time to pack your hospital bag? Not sure where to start? Here’s what you should do.

When to pack your hospital bag

Get your hospital bag ready by 36 or 37 weeks pregnant just in case you go into labour early before your due date. Of course, it is ok to throw in some items last minute like your toothbrush, skincare but having your bag almost packed and easily accessible would save you a great deal of hassle when the exciting moment comes!

For yourself,

  • Comfortable clothes for a comfortable and easy trip back home or to your confinement center. Avoid anything restrictive that limits your movement. A loose-fitting dress/gown would be a great option. For footwear, pack a few pairs of cozy socks to keep yourself warm. A slipper would be great and easy to slip on.
  • Nursing bras. If you’re planning to breastfeed, pack comfortable and supportive nursing bras. Gerber flannel receiving blanket would be another option for breastfeeding cover-ups. What even better is it’s great for stroller use or even as an impromptu changing pad too.
  • Nipple cream. Sore nipples and cracked skin may be something you will encounter during breastfeeding, so, having a nipple cream would be the best to help with this.
  • Breast pads. Your lifesaver to keep you dry, comfortable, and with no embarrassing moments.
  • Postpartum underwear. Most may say this is something extra, but you will thank us with this specially designed postpartum underwear that gives you the ultimate support and compression that you will need after vaginal delivery or C-section delivery.
  • Sanitary or maternity pads.
  • Postpartum compression wrap. If you are looking for additional support on your body and slimming down back to your pre-pregnancy body quickly, Upspring Shrinkx Postpartum Belly Wrap may be something that you would want to grab.
  • Toiletries. Toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, shampoo, deodorant, lip balm, extra hair ties. Face wipes would a great option if you’re not planning to shower right away. Extra contact lens and/or glasses if you wear them!
  • Extra-long charging cord. Highly recommended item to charge your phone/camera/tablet. Some hospital beds are so far away from the electrical outlet, extra-long would be such a great option.

For baby,

  • Car seat. If you’re driving home, start installing a car seat for the big day!
  • Outfit for going home. Gerber Outfit Set would be perfect that already comes with a bodysuit, pants, cap, and PJs.
  • Scratch mittens, and socks. Something extra to keep the hands and legs toasty warm.
  • Diapers. We have a variety of brands to choose from.
  • Bottles. If you are not planning on breastfeeding.
  • Washcloth. Gerber washcloth would be lifesaving to keep you dry from all the drool and vomits! Can even use them for wiping after feeding or nappy change.
  • Blanket. Think that Gerber flannel receiving blanket is only for mom? Gerber blanket is also useful for your baby to use as a blanket to swaddle baby or as a stroller cover-up.
  • Now you’re set and ready to head to the hospital when baby is ready to come!
  • You can also download or print this checklist below as a reminder of what you’ll need.
